About Us

Our mission here at Ironwood Automotive is to create a welcoming, judgment-free atmosphere where people can have their car serviced or repaired and leave feeling at ease and educated–all for a fair price. We are able to provide most of the services of the dealers without the huge overhead and markups.

We believe the customer experience in the industry can be elevated to one where our clients feel they are being treated fairly, getting good value and receiving great service. We pride ourselves on offering a clean, comfortable environment and efficient, reliable services. For our employees, we want to create an environment where they can learn and grow, be fairly compensated and maintain work/life balance.

It’s not difficult. Treat your customers and employees the way you’d like to be treated. Hire people that share your vision. Know your craft and share that knowledge with all. Operate with transparency and efficiency. We’re not perfect, but this is what we strive to do every day. We’d be honored if you would give our small business the opportunity to serve you and we always welcome your feedback on how we’re performing.

Aaron Williams, owner/operator and Master Technician at Ironwood Automotive, has had a love of taking things apart and putting them back together ever since he could drive. Before he had his first job in an auto shop he would routinely take his own cars apart in his parents’ driveway.

Aaron has 20 years of experience as an automotive technician and has been a certified state inspector for 15. He is a problem solver by nature and is especially adept at explaining car repair to customers. Having grown up in a family of Honda drivers it is only natural that his passion is working on Honda and Acura of all ages. Aaron worked at Wallace Automotive, a Honda/Acura specialty shop, for 14 years. After many years of honing his craft he has now set out to fulfill his dream of owning an automotive shop of his own. A shop where the customer feels welcomed and educated and where the communication is clear and transparent.

Co-owner of Ironwood Automotive and wife of Aaron, Kayla was born and raised in Richmond, VA and ironically met Aaron through car repair. She graduated from VCU with a BS in Mass Communications and previously worked in the spa and wine industries where she gained an appreciation for superior customer service and attention to detail. Kayla handles all of the branding, marketing and social media for Ironwood. She and Aaron have two young daughters who keep them busy outside of work but in her free time she enjoys traveling, camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with family.

Drew is a Master Technician with over 15 years of experience. He comes to us with both Acura and Hyundai dealership experience and really shines when it comes to diagnosing vehicles. Drew prides himself on his thoroughness and ability to think outside of the box. He also has the memory of an elephant and can recall almost any vehicle pulled into his bay along with the work that was done previously. In his free time, Drew likes to work on DIY projects around the house and spend time with his wife and son.

Eric joins our team with 15+ years of experience at a local Toyota dealership. RVA born and raised, Eric got his start in the automotive industry doing oil changes and worked his way up from there. Funny enough he isn’t really into cars but he found something he was good at and stuck with it. We appreciate Eric for his easy breezy attitude and his knack for efficiency. When he’s not at work he enjoys camping, traveling and attending festivals with his family.

Justin has been with us since 2020 when he joined us as a shop apprentice. He started out by shadowing Aaron on jobs and then grew to taking on jobs of his own from start to finish. Not just small jobs either! Since then he has grown exponentially and is now a certified Virginia State Inspector. Justin is capable of just about any task we put in front of him. When he’s not at Ironwood he’s working on one of his many RX-7’s.

Michael comes to us with 20 years of experience from Lexus. After 11 years as a tech, Mike decided to shift gears and try his hand at Service Advising. He found that he thrived in the environment and we’re happy to have him on board as our Service Manager. Mike’s favorite thing about working in the industry is helping people navigate the car repair process by prioritizing repairs and helping customers make educated decisions.
Outside of work Mike enjoys track days with his 2012 Lexus IS F and spending time with his wife, two children and their Golden Retriever, Charlie. PS- this guy used to track his Ducati too. He’s what we call a true enthusiast.

Dana has over 12 years of experience as an advisor and has worked in both dealerships and independent shops. Dana enjoys working with people and is always willing to jump in and help however he can. Driving a Tacoma himself he’s happy to be working in a space with a brand he can get behind. Originally from just outside of Boston, he moved to Richmond where he met his now wife and together they have two little girls. Unsuspecting fact about Dana? He wrote and published a book with his brother and is basically a top tier gamer.

Kyra manages our Parts Department and assists with the Service desk. She jumped into the automotive world after a few years of retail management and loves the fast-paced and ever-changing nature of automotive repair. Additionally, she loves how it gives her the ability to become a problem solver. Aside from being incredibly organized she’s also a craft beer connoisseur, a total Prius fangirl and a Hedgehog mama.
